I’m Back!Posted by in Blog on June 14, 2016
Wow, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last posted on my website! Since September 2014, I became pregnant with my third child and welcomed Mira Jane in May 2015. And now she’s a year old. Where did time fly?
To hold with tradition, here is a picture of Mira at her one-year photo shoot and I’m going to talk a little bit about our miracle baby. My husband and I thought we were done after Samuel was born. We had a boy and a girl, about 19 months apart, and life seemed crazy enough.
So when I started feeling the symptoms of pregnancy again when Samuel was only 6 months old, I refused to take a pregnancy test. Surely I couldn’t be pregnant – we used birth control! But after feeling nauseous and sick for several weeks, I finally tested myself and with shaking hands, called my mid-wife’s office to confirm what that flimsy plastic thing was telling me. Sure enough, I was pregnant – but things were scary at first. Because of the birth control device I was using, chances were this pregnancy was ectopic – meaning my life was potentially in jeopardy. We were instructed to go to the hospital directly and get a vaginal ultrasound – and there she was – at 6 weeks – right where she was supposed to be. Of course, we didn’t find out we were having a girl until nearly 20 weeks, but “it” had made its way past the device. One thing we knew, this child would be determined (and boy, is she!).
I’ll admit right now that I burst out crying when we rejoined my parents and Emma and Samuel in the waiting room. In fact, I think I scared some of the patients in the waiting room and a chaplain even came over to see if I needed to talk. Life had not been lost – it had begun! Why, then, was I sad? Well, I was already overwhelmed with my other two children, and honestly, I didn’t want to go through labor again! But as I look back now, Mira has been exactly what her name means – Miraculous. She is a true joy, a gift from God. I love her and I don’t know what I would do without her. Sure, my life is crazy busy and I barely get any free time, but my kids are well-worth it. Isn’t she just a ray of sunshine!
So perhaps that explains why I haven’t had time to blog. I even look at a computer and my children start acting up. But I’m starting to regain my evenings after bedtime, which is really exciting – especially since I’m nearly 2/3 way done on my third novel! I’m hoping to have it finished early next year, but with three kids (ages 3,2,1), it can be hard to stick to a deadline. Call it a goal then.
Adieu for now, I have some exciting news to share next time I log in (and no, it won’t be another pregnancy/newborn announcement! haha!)
